Submissions are now OPEN for our Spring 2022 issue!

  • Submissions will be open through January 31, 2022 (EST). As of February 1, 2022, this form will close until our next reading period.

  • We accept all forms of poetry, including erasure and prose poetry. If you have an experimental or unconventional piece, we'd love to read it!

  • Currently, we only accept unpublished work. Work posted to a personal social media account or blog does not count as published.

  • You may submit up to three (3) unpublished poems.

  • Simultaneous submissions are greatly encouraged, as we want you to get your work out there, and other lit mags may have a faster response time. However, should any poems submitted to us be accepted by another publication before you hear back from us, please contact us to withdraw said poems (and congratulations!).

  • If chosen for publication, you grant Impostor first serial rights, and we kindly ask that you do not publish your piece elsewhere until it appears in Impostor. Upon publication in Impostor, all rights revert back to you. Your work is always yours, and you may request a withdrawal from publication at any time. If the work is published elsewhere in the future, we ask that you credit Impostor with first publication.

  • Minor edits may be suggested by the editors if your work is chosen for publication.

  • Impostor sadly does not have the means to pay contributors, but we will try to offer personalized feedback on your work if time allows (this depends on the volume of submissions we receive). We will also promote your work on social media with permission.

  • A final, important note: Impostor is a queer, intersectional publication. Work that promotes bigotry of any kind (racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.) will not be tolerated.
